Refunds Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This Refund Policy applies to voluntary contributions made towards Second Sky, an initiative by SINA Foundation.
General Policy
Contributions are voluntary and are normally non-refundable. However, we understand that payment mistakes can happen.
Refunds will be given only in the limited cases listed in this policy, subject to verification and applicable deductions. Every other case is non-refundable.
Eligible Refund Cases
A refund may be considered only if:
- the same contribution was paid more than once by mistake;
- an incorrect amount was paid;
- payment was made due to a technical error;
- a contribution is identified as ineligible, including a restricted foreign contribution.
Refund Request Timeline
Refund applications should be submitted within 3 days from the date of payment.
Requests received after this period may be declined, especially if the contribution has already been allocated, committed, or used for initiative-related work.
Information Required for Refunds
To request a refund, please provide:
- contributor name;
- phone number;
- email address;
- payment date;
- contribution amount;
- correct intended contribution amount, if the incorrect amount was paid;
- selected initiative, if any;

Processing of Refunds
Approved refunds will normally be processed to the original payment method where possible.
Refunds may take time depending on the payment gateway, bank, UPI platform, or card network involved.
Gateway charges, bank charges, or other unrecoverable transaction costs may be deducted from the refund amount where applicable.
Non-Refundable Cases
All contribution payments are non-refundable except for the eligible refund cases listed in Section 2. Refunds will not be given if:
- the contribution has already been used, allocated, or committed for initiative work;
- the refund request is submitted after the stated refund window;
- the contributor cannot provide verifiable payment details;
- the request appears fraudulent, misleading, or inconsistent with payment records;
- the contributor changes their mind after making a voluntary contribution;
- the contributor later disagrees with the initiative or general charitable purpose selected;
- the contributor requests cancellation for a reason not listed in Section 2;
- applicable law or payment gateway rules restrict the refund.
Foreign or Ineligible Contributions
We currently do not accept foreign contributions. If a contribution is identified as a foreign or otherwise ineligible contribution, SINA Foundation may refund it or handle it in accordance with applicable law and professional advice.
No Tax Receipt Cancellation
SINA Foundation does not currently issue 80G tax-deduction receipts. Contribution acknowledgements are issued only for verification and record-keeping. If a contribution is refunded, any related acknowledgement may be treated as cancelled for internal records.
